In 2007 Russell Coutts asked us to design the fastest boat to compete in a race.
We did not realise then that this would take three years of non-stop modifications and improvements; and we would end up with a trimaran with 35m floats and a canting wing-sail of 68m.
The result was a convincing victory in the 33rd Americas Cup held in Valencia.
For us this was the most intense and prolific involvement we have experienced. And it vindicated our approach of constant research and examination of assumptions; and a philosophy of optimising weight (light) and power, sail plan efficiency and simplicity, which we strive for in all our vessels.
