The passion of one man, Alain Thebault, and now many. This has been one of our longest collaborations. It started with long discussions in the late 1980's, with the first boat commissioned in 1994.
The original aim was to create a large sailing "foiler" that could break the world ocean speed records. Over time the project goal changed - aiming to break the speed record. Which it did when it broke the 50kts barrier with a speed of 51kts in 2009. In 2013 it is returning to its original purpose and is hoping to sail from Los Angeles to Honolulu in under 5 days.
For us it has been a source of enduring interest and a marvelous test bed in the field of experimental research on foil behavior at high speeds.
