Gérard Lambert, named for the hero of a song by French rocker Renaud, is VPLP’s very first design and was produced in the same year as the studio was founded!
Built in glass and carbon fibre in 1983 in a little village in the Breton region of the Morbihan by Jean-François de Prémorel for Vincent Lévy, this 50-foot trimaran featured foils – already! – added to glass-reinforced plastic floats (GRP) for the first time.
Gérard Lambert took part in the 1983 La Baule–Dakar and finished 11th in OSTAR 1984, crossing the line 15 hours behind the winner. During the 1986 Route du Rhum, skipper Olivier Moussy had to abandon her after colliding with a cargo vessel.
