News from Le Havre

On the sea 8 VPLP design will enter the Transat Jacques Vabre next week end in the three following class.

IMOCA 60:

Four duos will battle for victory in Brazil : Marc Guillemot and Pascal Bidegorry on SAFRAN will defend VPLP design associated with team Verdier, with Francois Gabart and Michel Desjoyaux on MACIF, Jeremy Beyou and Christopher Pratt on MAITRE COQ and Vincent Riou and Jean Le Cam on PRB

PRB and SAFRAN from our first generation of design, narrower and a bit less powerful than the two others, first and second in the last Vendee globe, have been constantly optimized during the past years and  both appear also in the favorite group.

MOD 70

Two of seven of the MOD fleet OMAN MUSADAN and GITANA will race in a “mano a mano” race until finish line in Brazil; the five others couldn’t regrettably participate.

We recently have seen that the first lapse of concentration is paid cash, this race will be very intense for both duos, Sydney Gavignet and Damian Foxhall against Sebastian Josse and Charles Caudrelier

MULTI 50

Two of the 6 entries are VPLP design trimarans, both 50 footer complying with the MULTI50 class rules dedicated for fast and reasonable budget.

They have both already raced the TJV, and both arrived first once.

This time Erwan Leroux (past winner in 2009) and Yann Elies will race FENETREA CARDINAL, when Loick Fequet and Loic Escoffier (past second place in 2011) will sail MAITRE JACQUES, older design, constantly optimized from her launching date.

Danger!! All the boats will have to face the danger of 45 containers lost last week end, in the Cap Finistère zone.
